Easy pumping over with Vogelsang

From Vogelsang an example of the application of positive displacement rotary lobe pumps to cellar works

Vogelsang, the company that invented the rotary lobe pumps, has also put its experience at the service of the wine sector, and its rotary lobe pumps have proved to be a concrete answer to many needs of the wineries, from the gentle pumping of musts. to the regulation of the flow rate, to the suction of fluids from underground tanks to the precise management of the mixing …

On several occasions, Vogelsang wine pumps have considerably simplified the work and solved problems that had been dragging on for time. A significant example is Salgari Agricultural Company of Negrar (VR), a producer of Valpolicella wines since 1840. For the pumping over and transfer of musts and lees, the company used different types of pumps, without however finding the ideal solution. For example, the efficiency of the pump previously used for reassembly was reduced as the flow rate increased and the piston pumps used in the transfer of musts and lees beat the product a lot, emulsifying it.

The installation of a VX 136-105 Q VVA Vogelsang rotary lobe pump solved all these problems in one fell swoop. Thanks to the particular operating principle, in fact, the lobe pump maintains constant efficiency as the flow rate increases and, in addition, it is able to carry out the pumping over in a delicate way, without mistreating the musts and oxygenation. Secondly, the lobe pump, being self-priming, can take musts and lees from underground tanks (up to three meters deep, in this specific case) without any difficulty. With a single pump, therefore, the Salgari company is now able to carry out all the pumping operations necessary for the vinification of its excellent products, such as Amarone.

In addition, the integrated control panel allows the customers to set up operations in cycles, automating the most laborious processes, such as pumping over or transfers, or allowing the operator to manage the pump remotely via app or remote control.

This is just an example of the application of positive displacement rotary lobe pumps to cellar works. In other cases, the same have been used for the transfer of the grapes, the cooling of the musts and in various other situations, also as allrounder pumps, always with the maximum satisfaction of the operators.
