Soft drinks coding and marking: things to know to cut costs

Nimax systems are designed for minimum maintenance and are equipped with state-of-the-art software

In recent years, we have witnessed fast growth in the beverage sector, which has found innovative solutions for an increasingly diversified market.

We talk about this with Andrea Noera – the End User Sales Manager of Nimax, the benchmark for anything about coding and marking, and sole dealer in Italy of Domino products.

Mr. Noera, as suppliers of small- and medium-sized enterprises, you have an all-round view of the world of beverages in Italy. How is this market changing?

Rather than changing, this sector is evolving and extending its offer to involve all kinds of consumers.

A proliferation of flavours, formats, and types of packaging has led producers to upgrade their production processes as to perform more frequent changeover in their lines.

This is a highly competitive sector, where attention to costs is very high because the challenge is on well-planned marginality.

What do you mean with marginality planning?

More and more companies know that the Total Cost of Ownership of the coding system needs taken into consideration right from initial estimate, as not to purchase a product that is seemingly unexpensive and truly expensive in terms of running and maintenance costs.

Nimax evaluations include a documented analysis on the TCO, our systems are designed for minimum maintenance, are equipped with state-of-the-art software that interfaces with the most common management systems, thus streamlining and automating parameter input for the changeover.

What technology do you recommend for coding and marking?

You can’t say which is the best solution in advance, for there are many factors to take into consideration, such as: line speed, packaging, environment, and future corporate needs. That’s why it is important to rely on experts.

Our offer encompasses laser and inkjet printers, to offer the most advantageous product and our line has been under constant development to always offer the best performance.

Fibre laser F520i is the flagship product for indelible and perfectly clear code marking on flat, convex, or concave surfaces in aluminium packaging, plastic and brik.

Purposely designed for the beverage industry, which needs high speed also in wet environments, with sugars (IP65) and with temperatures up to 45°C, this laser guarantees constant quality all day long, seven days a week with minimum running expenses.

It does not use consumables, its laser source has a vital cycle of 100,000 hours (MTBF), and precise coding avoids product waste, and it is also provided with a cooling system with low energy consumption.
