Heliflex buffer system

Heliflex buffer is MH’s answer when it comes to handling long stops or high production

In production situations in which there are frequent idle stops on the line, the most immediate solution to avoid the loss of production is that of making a buffer system that can compensate for a few minutes to the stops of the downstream machines. There are several products suitable for this purpose, but when it comes to handling long stops or high production, the MH’s answer is the Heliflex buffer system.

One of a kind, the Heliflex system is a LIFO (Last In First Out) buffer using a particular chain, capable of reaching buffering lengths of over 400 mm with the standard machine. The chain is wound on two drums rising on one and descending on the other: in this way it is possible to reach enormous capacity in a reduced space.

The speed of the drums is controlled by a single inverter, so that the motors are perfectly synchronized to the same frequency and do not happen tearing on the catenary.

The loading of the products takes place via a pneumatic switch system placed on the main line that, when downstream machine stops, move incoming products out on a buffer feed conveyor. From this conveyor the products are guided inside the storage system.

Thanks to the action of the inverter, you can place the products on the buffer maintaining a certain pace so that they do not touch each other and do not crush, avoiding possible damage.

In the moment when the downstream machine becomes available again, Heliflex reverses its direction of travel and starts the unloading phase. The unloading phase can take place also in the case in which the upstream production stops, in this case at a greater speed.

The in-line reintegration of the products can be done in 2 ways, the choice of which is linked to the maintenance or otherwise of the direction of travel respect to the time of loading.

 • In the case where the products must necessarily maintain the direction of travel with which they entered into the buffer, there is provided a product return system via pneumatic pusher: the return at the time of a downstream stop will be limited by the performance of the pneumatic system.

 • In the case where the direction of travel of the goods is irrelevant for the purposes of production, the return may take place via fixed switch on a unloading conveyor and then through a merger system with the main line: the return at the time of a downstream stop will be limited only by the unloading speed of the system.

The Heliflex system can also be used in cooling and air conditioning systems, however, losing its characteristic of buffer and becoming actually a capacity.
